INDEFINITE LEAVE TO REMAIN UK IMMIGRATION VISA
An Indefinite Leave to Remain UK Immigration Visa allows qualifying migrants to settle in the UK permanently and is a stepping stone to becoming a Naturalised British Citizen. The benefit of holding settled status (Indefinite Leave to Remain) is that the visa holder may reside in the UK free from Immigration Control permanently. This status cannot be lost provided that the settled person does not leave the UK for more than 2 years continuously.
In most cases or usually you would need to have lived in the UK for at least five years before you can apply for a UK Immigration Indefinite Leave to Remain Visa however in certain instances this can be reduced to three.
The requirements to obtain this visa differ for each individual but generally revolve around meeting the following criteria;
You have lawfully lived within the UK under an appropriate UK Immigration Visa.
You do not have a criminal record.
During the qualifying period you have not spent a period of 180’s day in a 12-month period outside of the UK.
You are able to pass a Life in the UK test which is based on the British Culture and our history and traditions.
You can provide evidence that you meet the B1 level of English which is set out by the Common European Framework of Languages.
